Orientation

The purpose of this activity is to show how forest fires emit large amounts of carbon dioxide gas.  Students will also relate this to creating of a greenhouse effect.

Materials
10-gallon fish tank

glass lid for fish tank

sand or gravel

30 to 40 wooden matches

limewater (calcium hydroxide)

two small glass beakers or jars

water

long, fireplace matches
