The dye did not mix evenly through the pond

The View from the Blimp
the plume of dye seen from the blimp

The dye moved through the pond as a plume. You can also see the boat from which the samples were taken (and the problems with using a video camera that puts titles on your tape at the touch of a button)

Results of the grab samples

the concentration at the outlet was less than in the middle of the pond

The graph shows how the dye concentrations sampled at five locations in the pond changed with time as more water flowed into the pond. It shows the concentration at the outlet was much less than the concentration in the middle of the pond .

Results of the automatic fluorometer readings

fluorometer graph

This graph shows how the dye concentrations sampled at the south and north sides of the pond changed with time as more water flowed into the pond. It shows the concentration on the south was higher than the concentration on the right of the pond.
