What
are the uses of mass and volume measurements?
Mass and volume are properties of matter. Mass
and volume can be
measured. Scientists must be able to measure mass and volume
accurately. Then they can repeat their
experiments and make predictions based on their
results. Mass and volume are just as important
in science as colors are to art.
What
is mass?
Mass is the amount
of matter in an object. Mass is different from weight.
This will be explained in the presentation.
What
is volume?
Have you ever wondered "how big" something is?
"Bigness" can be described by volume.
For instance, the amount of water that fills up
a glass is the volume of the water. Volume
has
three dimensions:
length, width, and height.
