Activity 3: A Thought Experiment on Conditioned Learning
Conditioned Learning in Everyday Experience
With your learning group, see if you can think of an everyday experience or behavior that might have been conditioned (as in the Pavlov dog experiments). Hints: have you ever housebroken a puppy? How did your mother get you to stop a certain behavior? How did your parents get you to do something you otherwise would not have done?
Testing the Possibility
See if you can design an experiment that could test whether
such behavior is conditioned. You could imagine an animal or person who does
not have the behavior and test a conditioning design on him or her to
see if the new behavior would be acquired.
