Brain or spinal cord
disease, when it affects friends or relatives, is sometimes too
"close to home" and too painful to talk about. But for
those who can share their experiences, there is a social benefit and
the opportunity to make learning more personal and relevant. Other
students could be assigned a disease topic and called upon to
explain its symptoms, cause (if known), and treatment.
