Title: Exploding Water
Description: This demostrations shows how oxygen and hydrogen must be mixed in the proper proportion to form water. It shows an application of proportional math to a chemical reaction.
Key Words: Hydrogen, Oxygen, Combustion, Proportion
Grade Level: 7th, 8th

Teacher's Request: I would like a lesson or demonstration that shows how chemical equations are an example of proportions. Chemicals must be reacted in the stoichiometric proportion for the desired product to be formed without any excess of a reactant. I would like a presentation that discusses the theory of this and a demonstration of a simple, exciting, and common chemical reaction (such as hydrogen and oxygen combusting to form water).
